    Sergeant Frederick Von Hofen is a 22-year-old officer in the United States Marine Corps. He is home in Fort Worth, Texas, on his first furlough since entering the service on May 2, 1941. He is staying with his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry E. Hatcher. Sergeant Von Hofen is a graduate of Fort Worth Technical High School. He wears a Presidential Unit Citation given to his group for work on the Guadalcanal. Sergeant Von Hofen is pictured sitting in an armchair, wearing his military uniform.
