McGowan is in a uniform of a dark jacket and lighter shirt, solid tie, and trousers. He has ribbons and clusters and insignia on his uniform, and braid on his sleeve cuff. Mrs. McGowan is wearing a dark garment with 3/4 length sleeves and a skirt below her knees, and has a lighter blouse with an embroidered collar. She is wearing earrings. The infant is wearing a light colored dress, diaper cover, and booties. The couch the family is seated on has a floral upholstery or slipcover.
