Description

Harland Harvey Hester, superintendent of city street and garbage department. In the photo, Mr. Hester is sitting on a desk chair pulled up to a desk. The left side and back side of the desk are abutting a wall. There is a glass block window in each wall. On the wall directly above the Mr. Hester's head, there is a small poster. Behind him a wooden door with slats at the bottom is partially in view. The man is wearing a suit, diagonal striped tie, collared shirt and a western hat. The man is gazing at a piece of paper that he is holding in his left hand. His right hand is holding a cigar. Both hands are resting on top of a stack of file folders full of paper which is sitting on top of a desk pad. There is an ash tray to the right of the man's right hand. On the left side of the desk there is a stack of rolled papers. Next to this, near the wall, there are two stacks of magazines. Directly in front of him, on the desk by the wall, there is another stack of papers with a book resting on top. Next to this, there is a fountain pen in a holder, a small plaque and a domino tile with the numbers five and two on it. Close to the plaque, there is a postcard and an envelope. Leaning against the wall, there is a small sheet of decorative paper surrounded by a wooden frame. On the paper, it states: "My Daily Prayer", "Help me this day to keep my (illegible word) nose out of other people's business." Below the words there is a cartoon image of a dog. To the right of the decorative parchment, there is another book sitting on a stack of papers.
