Description

Harland Harvey Hester, superintendent of city street and garbage department. In the photograph, Mr. Hester is sitting at an angle on a wooden desk chair. In front of the man there is a wooden desk with a drawer in the middle and one drawer on the right side visible. The chair and desk have scratches and look very worn. There is a dirty brick wall behind and in front of the man. Inset into each wall is a multi-pane window. The windows in front of the man contain wire meshing. The top part of the wall is a lighter color than the bottom. On the wall, behind the man and above his head, there is a large calendar showing all twelve months. On the left side of the desk, there is a horizontal slatted organizer holding numerous sheets of paper. On top of this there is a wooden Rolodex box. In the middle of the desk near the wall there is a roll of paper towels with a pencil sharpener sitting on top. In front of this there is a book. Next to the book, there is a ledger sitting on top of a hanging file folder with another one sitting next to it. Close to Mr. Hester, there is a rotary dial phone, a short, small glass bottle and a matchbox. On the far right of the desk, a corner of a hard backed brief case is showing. There are numerous sheets of papers resting on top of the the brief case. A large portion of the top part of the desk is covered with a large sheet of paper covered over with a a glass protector on top. Mr. Hester is wearing a suit vest with matching slacks, a multi-colored diagonally striped tie and a collared shirt. On the vest, there is a double Albert chain with fob. There is a ring on his left ring finger. His right elbow is resting on the back of the chair. There is a lit cigar in his right hand.
