Description
A themed War Bond Drive is being held in Fort Worth, Texas by the Junior Chamber of Commerce to support the war effort. Participating in the "Hillbilly Auction" are auctioneer George Barton and bidder H. D. Ackerman. The auctioneer's helpers, left to right, are four Jaycees - Jack Painter, Joe Pieringer, Al Purvis, and Tommy Marrs. Mr. Ackerman is bidding $5,000 for the sack of potatoes, which he later donated to the Lena Pope Home. He is dressed in a hat and a double breasted suit. Mr. Barton is wearing a hat, dress shirt, necktie, and trousers. The helpers are in "hillbilly" costumes. The booth is set up in front Renfro Drug Store.
