Description
Austin Strong, author and playwright, having a Texas tour with Fort Worth as the first stop, as vice president of The Seeing Eye. His mission is to make friends for The Seeing Eye, the organization that trains dogs to be guardians, comparisons and expert guides. It is his niche in the war effort, a task he was drawn away from his unfinished book. The need for seeing eye dogs may be much greater after the war, and Strong's is a job in preparation for meeting that need. Each day he experiences an hour or two of total darkness to know how a blind man feels. Mr. Strong is shown sitting at a desk with an open binder in front of him. Mr. Strong is wearing a dark, double-breasted suit with a bow tie and he's holding a pair of eyeglasses in his right hand. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, February 24, 1943.
