Description
Approximately 400 visitors called to inspect the auxiliary casualty station at Diamond Hill Elementary School, and a part of that community's Office of Civilian Defense (OCD) stretcher-bearer crops is shown here giving an "in action" demonstration. The "victim" is A. C. Thomas, who is lying on a stretcher. Standing beside the stretcher (center) is W. B. McLeod, business manager of the unit. At the head of the stretcher is W. R. Hayes, corps leader. An unidentified man is standing at the right, at the foot of the stretcher. Mr. McLeod has his hands extended out to the blanket that is covering Mr. Thomas. McLeod and Hayes are dressed in dark suits and helmets. The room is filled with several unoccupied stretchers. The station is equipped to handle 200 emergency cases.
