Description

The 1943 Golden Gloves State Tournament is being held at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. Squaring off in a bout for the flyweight division, left to right, are Jose Andres and Private Jesse Spivey. Andres, of Fort Worth, Texas, is the 1942 champion. Spivey is a soldier stationed at Ellington Field near Houston, Texas. He was the national flyweight champion in 1941. Andres is shown blocking a punch from Spivey. Andres went on to win the unanimous decision.
