Description
The 1943 Golden Gloves State Tournament is being held at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. Squaring off in a bout for the flyweight division, left to right, are Private Jesse Spivey and Jose Andres. Spivey is a soldier stationed at Ellington Field near Houston, Texas. He was the national flyweight champion in 1941. Andres, of Fort Worth, Texas, is the 1942 champion. He is shown hitting Spivey with a left jab. Andres went on to win the unanimous decision. A referee is also standing in the ring.
