Description
The first evening Mass is being held at Camp Wolters. The priests are singing the gospels, left to right, Reverend Thomas Taafe, Reverend Patrick Gallagher and Chaplain Alfred Heitpas. Reverend Taafe is from Mineral Wells, Texas. Reverend Gallagher is from Weatherford, Texas. Chaplain Heitpas is from Camp Wolters. The priests are in clerical clothing and are standing in front an outdoor altar setup at Camp Wolters. There are soldiers dressed in military uniforms, standing next to the priests, holding an American Flag. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, July 4, 1942.
