Description
"The first carload of Tarrant County scrap rubber collected in the salvage campaign started this week was being loaded Friday at the plant of the Barney Holland Oil Company, 825 North Main Street, wholesale agents for the Continental Oil Company. The rubber, 40,000 pounds of it, was collected by 30 Conoco stations in Fort Worth. Shown loading the car are Dale Coater, R. Hall and Holland." The trio is standing inside what appears to be a railroad car. Barney Holland is wearing clothes that are noticeably more crisp than his workers. Both he and Mr. Hall are holding a tire, as Mr. Coater is grabbing another one off of the stack. In the foreground, tires are littering the front of the railroad car in a messy heap. Toward the back of the car, the tires are stacked more neatly. Most of these stacks are even taller than the men.
