Description
Soldiers at Camp Bowie now find recreation in one of the finest recreation centers in the country. It's Brownwood's new $69,000 United Service Organization (U. S. O.) Club recently completed and dedicated amid gay festivities. Soldiers enjoyed dance, games, songs and food. They had a good time. Members of the Brownwood chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) poured tea. The members who served Colonial tea at the opening are pictured here. Seated: Mrs. J. N. Weatherby, regent of the Brownwood chapter. Others in the group are Mrs. T. C. Wilkinson Junior (Jr.), Mrs. Fred Abney, Mrs. Walter Nelson Junior (Jr.), Miss Annie Shelton, Mrs. Joe Gilliam, Mrs. Joe N. Weatherby Junior (Jr.), Mrs. Hervey F. Mayes, Mrs. Turner Garner, Mrs. Yantis Robnatt and Mrs. Vida Robnatt. All are attired nicely. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, March 15, 1942.
