Description
Soldiers at Camp Bowie now find recreation in one of the finest recreation centers in the country. It's Brownwood's new $69,000 United Service Organization (U. S. O.) Club recently completed and dedicated amid gay festivities. Soldiers danced, played games, sang and ate with girls. Members of the Brownwood chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) poured tea. Seven members of the United Service Organizations (USO) staff are pictured here. They are, from left to right, Miss Doris Donahoo, Miss Eva Nell Kirksey, Miss Jerry Furry, Miss Agnes Lehman, Miss Billie Congleton, Mrs. Beatrice Campbell and Miss Mary Elizabeth Hall. All are shown standing near a window, dressed in trim blue uniforms and ready with coffee and cookies for the soldiers. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, March 15, 1942.
