    Description

The 1942 Golden Gloves State Tournament is being held at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. Squaring off in the quarterfinals are Sergeant Fred Sanky and Charlie Simmons. Sergeant Sanky, of Harlingen Air Base, is one of the oldest men in the tournament. Simmons is a young boxer, representing the Dallas, Texas, district. He is shown lunging with a big swing of his right fist. Sergeant Sanky is leaning out of the way while retaliating. Sergeant Sanky went on to win the decision and will face Tom Attra in the semifinals. A referee is standing in a corner of the ring.
