Description
Junior Woman's Club members in Fort Worth are active in civilian defense projects. Some women are working for the Red Cross in the sewing room at the Club. They are, from left to right, Mrs. A. Ray Johnson, Mrs. L. B. Benton, Mrs. Louis M. Mueller and Mrs. Ed. W. Hamann. The four women are shown working together to sew garments for the Red Cross. Both Mrs. Mueller and Mrs. Hamann are using sewing machines while Mrs. Johnson hand sews a jacket and Mrs. Benton stands to inspect a piece of clothing. Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Hamann are wearing long-sleeve dresses, however Mrs. Johnson's dress has a polka-dotted pattern on it. Mrs. Benton and Mrs. Mueller are wearing similar outfits: long skirts with wide collared blouses underneath a jacket. Behind the foursome is a fireplace with a mantle that has a clock and two potted plants on top of it. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, February 18, 1942.
