Description
Amateur boxers from all around the area are preparing for the 1942 Golden Gloves District Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas. One of the top contenders in the heavyweight division is Jack Russell. His training regimen not only includes the punching bag at the gym, but also his day job at the munitions plant. He was an all-conference end at Baylor University and has been working out with other members of the Texas Steel Company team. Russell is shown poking a rod into a pot of coals. He is dressed in a baseball cap, t-shirt, and trousers.
