Amateur boxers from all around the area are preparing for the 1942 Golden Gloves District Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas. Among the challengers are two Texas Christian University (T. C. U.) students. They are, left to right, Aaron Barker and Johnny Pickering. Barker, known as the Pounding Parson, is a ministerial student. He weighs 230 pounds and will compete in the heavyweight division. For the past two years, Barker has been the intramural champion for T. C. U. Pickering weighs 125 pounds and will compete in the featherweight class. He previously won two district tournaments in Houston, Texas.
