Description
The Alabama Crimson Tide are facing off against the Texas A&M Aggies in the 1942 Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas. The Crimson Tide represents the Southeastern Conference while the Aggies represent the Southwestern Conference. The wild fourth quarter, that produced three touchdowns and a field goal, began with this play. The Aggies are backed up on their side of the field when back Leo Daniels (44) launched a pass downfield. Alabama's effective pass defense is again on display in the center of the field as Louis Scales (2) closes the gap on Aggie receiver Bill Henderson. Henderson tipped the ball into the hands of Alabama's Carl Mims (55). Mims caught the interception and returned it to the thirteen yard line. Alabama went on to win the game 29-27, due in part to seven interceptions. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, evening edition, January 2, 1942.
