Description

The bi-district schoolboy classic is being held in Witchita Falls, Texas. Competing in the high school football game are the Lubbock Westerners (white jerseys) and the Wichita Falls Coyotes. In the third quarter of the game Coyote Gene Hill threw a screen pass to R. D. Smith (5). Smith took the ball twenty-two yard before running into Westerner defender Max Walthall (29). Walthall is shown lunging at Smith and wrapping his legs for the tackle. The stop halted Smith on the eight-yard line. Wichita Falls went on to win the game 30-13. The referee is calling the ruling as five players scramble in front of him. There is an audience in the bleachers and a pipe goal post. "(Star-Telegram Photos by Wilburn Davis.)"
