    Description

    A Naval ship, the USS Reuben James, was hit by a torpedo near Iceland on October 31, 1941. Announcement of the sinking ship was broadcast over the radio. Families of the crew - seven officers and 136 enlisted men - are awaiting news. Reading a front page story in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram are Mrs. Dorothy Dodd and her son, Alvin Dodd, They are waiting to hear the fate of Mrs. Dodd's brother, Charles Cox, a crewman on the Reuben James. Alvin is dressed in a pinstripe suit. Mrs. Dodd is wearing a blouse, necklace, blazer, and a skirt.
