Description
On a slope at the west edge of Sycamore Park, long rows of "winterized" tents -- canvas-covered wooden frames, have been erected for the soldiers' recreation camp being established here. The camp will accommodate 500 soldiers. Show is the interior of one of the tents that will furnish quarters for soldiers who come on leave. There will be 90 of these tents each accommodating six soldiers. Lieutenant Chris Solberg, adjutant and executive officer of the United States Army Recreation area here, is shown inspecting a cot in one of the tents to see that it is properly made up. Three beds can be seen in the canvas covered, wood framed tent. Lieutenant Solberg is wearing an army uniform. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, October 30, 1941.
