Miniature antique map of the continent of Africa. Behind title cartouche at bottom of map is illustration with crocodile, sphynx, and river god with overturned vase. Probably from the 1719 German edition of Allain Manesson-Mallet's "Description de l'Univers..." first published in French in 1683. Engraving on hand laid paper. Blank verso. 14 cm. x 10 cm.
