The William E. Jary Jr. Collection is arranged into two series. The first series, the William E. Jary Jr. Personal Papers, 18640-1988, undated, contains Jary's personal papers, consisting of his association with Alpha and Omega Fraternity, the J.J. Langever Service Company of Fort Worth, his World War II service as a journalist, original advertising work, personal photos, awards and accolades. The series also includes numerous photographs of Jary's service in the military during World War II. The second series, the William E. Jary Jr. Research Collection, 1919-1988, undated, contains his research files documenting the history of Fort Worth and Texas, especially their western heritage. These files include the Texas State Centennial Celebration of 1936, the birth of Casa Mañana, Billy Rose, the Fort Worth Stockyards, cattle trials in Texas and trail-drivers, and other Texas cities. Both series include photos, newspaper clippings, articles, original playbills, celebrity photos. Finally, the collection includes an oversize scrapbook chronicling the opening activities of the Casa Mañana in Fort Worth in 1936. The collection reflects the life and professional work of Jary as well as the history of Fort Worth, with special emphasis on the Texas State Centennial Celebration in 1936, the opening of Casa Mañana in Fort Worth the same year, the Fort Worth Stockyards, and the city's western heritage.
