Description
Image shows 20 students at The University of Texas at Arlington began fasting to protest both the United States weapons sale to Iran and the treatment of political prisoners in Iran, some of who are reported to be on a hunger strike. The UTA protesters above are not shown because they were afraid their families in Iran would suffer reprisals by the Khomeini government. Tony Salaki, member of the organization of Iranian Students at UTA expected 30-40 people to join the protest. The image shows protest signs and posters. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition December 13,1986.
