Description

People wearing Ku Klux Klan (KKK) t-shirts, with "White Power" and "Realm of Texas" written underneath the KKK name, were seen outside of a football game at Grand Prairie High School's (GPHS) Gopher Stadium against South Grand Prairie High School (SGPHS). Outside of the stadium, the National Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) protested the use of the Confederate flag by SGPHS. The protest came as a result of SGPHS football player Fred Coleman Jr. being reportedly dismissed from the football team after he had protested playing under the school’s Confederate battle flag. Inside the stadium, GPHS fans flew American flags and carried signs that read, "Who won the Civil War?" On the SGPHS side, the fans waved the Confederate flag and carried signs reading, "The South Shall Rise Again."
