About 130 people attended the formal opening of the Japanese Gardens at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden on March 29, 1973. Speaking at the dedication were, left to right, Scott Fikes, garden horticulturalist; Mrs. Kelly Shryoc, president of the Fort Worth Garden Center; and Charles Ringler, head of the city Park and Recreation board.
