54 days of anxiety, Mrs. W. L. Reid of Winnsboro learns that her only son, Private Max E. Reid, was one of the few survivors of a death march in Korea, culminating in a slaughter of American prisoners. With her, as she read the news and official telegram, were her three daughters, left to right, Mary Alice, Ruby Nell and Mrs. Dorothy Woodruff. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, October 23, 1950.
