Description

Mrs. Pauline Boykin, is shown being presented with a new Crosley refrigerator, fully stocked with food, at the ground breaking ceremonies for Valley View, Carswell Air Force Base housing project. Mrs. Boyskin submitted the winning name for the addition. The others in the image, shown left to right, are Jim Nelson, representing United Appliance Company, donor of the refrigerator; Major General Archie Old Jr., commander of the 8th Air Force: Brigadier General C. S. Irvine, commander of Carswell base and the 7th Bombardment Wing, and Guy Strickland, representing Worth Food Markets, donor of the food. Published in the evening edition July 29, 1950.
