Description
Abilene is the home of two colleges and a university. Abilene Christian College showing the Administration building, left, and Swell Auditorium, right. The college occupies a 64-acre campus on the heights of northeast Abilene, and founded in 1906 by A. B. Barrett, a gospel preacher from Tennessee. A graduate school to confer master's degrees in the arts, sciences and education was initiated in June and up to 100 graduate students were expected to register this fall. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, September 13, 1953.
