It's hard to imagine what 100,000 spectators look like on a golf course, but this panoramic view of the gallery on the No. 2 hole of the Colonial course may help. It's estimated 3,000 to 4,000 watched as Sam Snead, Ben Hogan and Toney Penna made their shots here in final round. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, evening edition May 29, 1950.
