Doctor James T. Bettes, a dentist, left, checks to see if Pete the Python's tooth will need to come out. Forest Park Zoo Superintendent Jim Brown, facing the camera, and Harry Jackson, hidden by Dr. Bettes, hold the 18-foot snake's head while two zoo attendants hold the middle part of Pete's body. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition August 19, 1954.
