While his guard, Voyageur Pete Alexander, left, watches closely, Jim Wright, center, of Weatherford finally sells State Representative Vernon Eugene Smith a disguised penny box of matches for 50 cents as a "guaranteed cigarette lighter" as part of Wright's Thursday initiation into the American Legion's Forty & Eight. Peeping is Raymond Bertholf, grand conducteur, in charge of all "wrecking" operations. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
