Owner Billy Bruce Bridgford of Colorado City, left, shows the reserve grand champion of the show, a 1,050-pound Hereford named Larry, to Amon Carter Jr., who purchased the animal for the Amon G. Carter Foundation for $3,500. The steer will be donated to the Lena Pope Orphans Home. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition February 6, 1954.
