D. D. Shiflett, assistant city chemist, explains to three Bluebirds just how a filtration basin operates at the Fort Worth water plant. The girls, left to right, are Emily Utterback, Nancy Wade Carter and Elizabeth Kerr. They were in a group of 11 Alice E. Carlson students who toured the Holy Plant.
