Description
Ex-marine Richard Thompson, and his 8-year-old horse "Comet", seen consulting a map, arrived in Fort Worth during their trip from Maine to California, in which the two had already traveled 2,700 miles through 16 states. The ex-marine rescued Comet from the meat block and considered the horse to be "a great guy". As a pastime, the 33 year-old Thompson said he would talk to Comet, as well as take copious notes on the two's adventures, that he hoped would one day go into book form, possibly titling it "The Loney Road". Published in the evening edition, April 14, 1950.
