Description
Mary Sue Chipman, 19, daughter of Mrs. E. G. Manning of 2013-B Haltom Road and G. O. Chipman of 723 Blandin, left for San Diego, where she was an apprentice seaman in a Navy hospital school. She was on leave at Fort Worth after completing boot training at Great Lakes, III. Ms. Chipman was accepted as an apprentice through the Navy Women's Reserve Act, commonly known as WAVES -- Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service.
