Description

The Stephens County Oil Play Revival is in full swing after rain delayed operations for several weeks. The weather problems made it necessary to dig slush pits because the ground was so wet. A team of horses are shown pulling equipment to dig the pits. Working behind the horses, left to right are A. L. Fite and Clayton Whitfield. Mr. Fite is pushing the plow. He is dressed in a hat, long-sleeve shirt, and overalls. Mr. Whitfield is holding the reins to the horse team. He is wearing a straw cowboy hat, button-up shirt, trousers, and work gloves. An unidentified man is at the right. The two most active operators to get the event running were P. J. Knight and G. W. Ewing of Breckenridge, Texas.
