Description
Marion Miley, a nationally known golf star, and her mother, Mrs. Fred Miley, were killed on September 28, 1941. They were staying at the Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Kentucky, when the robbery-homicide occurred. Mrs. Miley lived long enough to describe the attack and give the police a description of the suspects. Two weeks after the initial crime, Fort Worth Police detectives were following a lead on another case when they saw a two-toned Buick with Kentucky plates. On a hunch, the detectives brought the driver and suspect, Tom Penney, in for questioning. Miss Wilma Williams, 28, was accompanying Penney and two other men. She traveled with them to Fort Worth, Texas. from Jackson, Mississippi. The police cleared Miss Williams of any connection with the murders, but credited her story with helping "break" the case. Miss Williams is shown standing by a window. She is wearing a paisley dress and a sweater.
