Marion Miley, a nationally known golf star, and her mother, Mrs. Fred Miley, were killed on September 28, 1941. They were staying at the Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Kentucky, when the robbery-homicide occurred. Mrs. Miley lived long enough to describe the attack and give the police a description of the suspects. Two weeks after the initial crime, Fort Worth Police detectives were following a lead on another case when they saw a two-toned Buick with Kentucky plates. On a hunch, the detectives brought the driver and suspect, Tom Penney, in for questioning. Mr. Penney is shown sitting in a solitary confinement cell in Fort Worth, Texas, after confessing to the crime. He admitted to being one of three murderers and the trigger-man.
