Description

The final round of the Golden Gloves state tournament is being held at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. Left to right are Aubrey Poole and Dick Dixson. Poole is representing Houston, Texas in the heavyweight division. He is facing off against University of Texas football player Shelby Buck in the championship round, Sunday night. Poole went on to win the decision and was one of the biggest surprises in the tournament. He will represent Texas in the Tournament of Champions in Chicago, Illinois. Poole is shown receiving his trophy from Mr. Dixson, the tournament director. Mr. Dixson is dressed in a double breasted, pinstripe suit.
