Description
Final step in plans for the blind golfers' world champion ship match at Rockwood golf course October 26 were completed when this picture was taken as Marvin Shannon of Fort Worth, Texas, the challenger, with pen in hand, signing contract to meet Clinton F. Russell, Duluth, Minnesota; titleholder by virtue of defeating Shannon recently at Duluth. Seated at the table are, at left, Councilman Eagle, general chairman for the match, and at right, Mrs. Alice Woodlan, secretary. Standing is Skeet Fincher, Rockwood pro and Shannon's coach. Proceeds from the match will go to the Fort Worth Lighthouse for the Blind. There is a pocket watch on the table. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, October 8, 1941.
