Description
Observance of National Dog Week turned the spotlight on many a pampered Fort Worth canine pet. Here are the five dogs that are rating more than average attention this week. In this picture is "Sarge," screw-tail bulldog belonging to First Sergeant Lynn A. Boyd Junior of Company D, 27th Battalion, Texas Defense Guard. Sarge shares Company D mascot honors with Don Painter, 10, shown with him. Both have special uniforms and the dog even has his "sergeant's" stripes. Don is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Painter. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, September 24, 1941.
