Description
To raise the $3,553,000,000 defense revenue contemplated in the tax bill passed by the Congress and sent to the President for signature, many commodities small and big will be looked at closely. "Give-away" matches are expected to disappear because of the 2-cent a thousand on tax on all type of "strikers". Bill Granger, right, clerk at Ballinger Street Pharmacy, points to the 1-cent match dispenser as he sells a pack of cigarettes to to Ed Hendricks. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, September 18, 1941.
