Description

The city of Fort Worth had its annual picnic for the 200 policemen and their families gathered at Camp Swift, Lake Worth. They enjoyed 800 pounds of barbecue and 150 cases of soft drinks, 4,000 pounds of ice and every intention of having a big time. The picnic started at 9 am. and continued until midnight so officers of all three shifts could attend. Chief of Police Karl N. Howard looks on as as Mrs. Howard heaves a horseshoe toward the peg. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, September 4, 1941.
