Description

A pool of oil was recently discovered in Mitchell County, near Colorado City, Texas. The land on which the discovery well is being drilled belongs to E. T. Strain. The Magnolia Petroleum Company is active in the area. Two members of the drilling crew are shown at the rig for the firm's No. 1 Rhoades. Pictured left to right are W. T. Dyer and W. J. Jones. Mr. Dyer is a driller for the company. He is dressed in a hat, button-up shirt, and trousers. Mr. Jones is a tool dresser. He is wearing a straw hat, button-up shirt, and trousers.
