Description
Hicks Field cadets spent a weekend afternoon dancing at the Elks Club. They were hosted by ten women, half of whom are shown here: (left to right) Misses Sarah Cooke, Leslie Anne Ligon, Mary Catherine Elliott, Virginia Stogner and Jayne Miller. Miss Stogner sponsored the dance, naming the hostesses and inviting a group of young women to be among the dancing partners for the cadets. The tea dance was attended by about 100 people. The hostesses are shown standing on a balcony. Miss Cooke is wearing a light-colored dress with a contrasting color collar and piping down the center. Miss Ligon is wearing a dress and a polka-dot kerchief tied under the dress collar. Miss Elliott is wearing a patterned, button-down dress belted at the waist. Miss Stogner is wearing a dress with an eyelet design on the bodice. Miss Miller is wearing a pleated, button-down dress.
