Mr. and Mrs. George W. Polk, Junior are playing chess at the home of his mother, Mrs. Adelaide Roe Polk. The couple has had a round-world romance. They began their acquaintance in Manila, Philippines. They were later married in Paris, France the day war was declared. Mr. Polk bought the antique ivory chess set from a man in Shanghai, China. Mrs. Polk is sitting on a armchair, dressed in a blouse, pinstripe blazer and matching skirt. Mr. Polk is wearing a double breasted striped suit. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, February 5, 1940.
