    Description

    Some of the wives and companions of three companies of the 144th infantry who went to Brownwood, Texas, and Camp Bowie to visit their men soldiering at the 36th Division training camp. The round trip, complete with chaperons, was arranged by the Fort Worth, Texas, Junior Chamber of Commerce. Standing left to right are Miss Frances Vaughn, who helped register the women at the commerce office; Miss Oneta Smelser, Denton, Texas, who went to see Corporal John Wise, Fort Worth, Texas, Company B; Jack Bates, general chairman for the Jaycees; Miss Louise Robertson, Fort Worth, Texas, date of Corporal William G. Wells, Service Company; and Mrs. Metha Hamilton, Midlothian, Texas, who went to visit her husband in the Service Company. They are standing in front of a bus. Miss Vaughn and Miss Smelser are wearing blouses and skirts, Mr. Bates is wearing a striped suit, and Miss Robertson and Mrs. Hamilton are wearing dresses.
