Description
The Polytechnic Parrots are facing off against the North Side Steers. The high school basketball tournament is being held at the Texas Christian University gymnasium. The tight game came down to the wire, and was almost the biggest upset of the city high school basketball season. Gordon Brown of the Parrots is shown at the free-throw line in the final thirty seconds of the game. The free pitch broke a tie, giving the Parrots a 26-25 lead. Other players pictured are Poly's (white shirts) Joe Dawson (35), J. C. Phillips (37), Bill Walton (33) and Bobby Donaldson (32). The North Side boys are Bill Gillen (10), Bill Adams (7), Clyde Dupree (8) and Jack Tarvin (4).
