Description
Members of the Redbud group of the Bluebirds, Camp Fire organization for girls from ages eight to 10, were photographed as they planted a redbud tree at Riverside Christian Church. The girls organized in 1940 into the city's first Bluebird group. The members are, left to right, Louise Braznell, Norma Gregg, Norma Walton, Carolyn Hicks, Betty Lou Cookus, Betty Nell Freeman, Peggy Martin, Marian Ann White, Faye Broome and Luella Woodruff. A welcome sign for the church can be seen at the far right. The girls are wearing their Bluebirds uniform, consisting of a short-sleeve blouse, a scarf and a pleated skirt.
